Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer leads the organization's developmental efforts and is responsible for the identification and solicitation of financial support for Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center (MVNHC). Work involved prospect research, development of program plans with clinicians and administrators, creation of grant proposals, and post-award reporting. The ideal candidate has an ambitious strategic vision for fundraising, is an excellent communicator, and has experience managing change in a growing organization.
Primary Responsibility of the Position:
- Develop and refine fundraising strategies for the organization.
- Identify potential sources of financial support for MVNHC, including corporations, foundations, and public agencies.
- Oversee fundraising activities, including funder/key stakeholder targeting, cultivation and management, contact development, digital engagement, and event planning.
- Expand and diversify MVNHC's funder base.
- Represent MVNHC to donors and supporters on a continuous basis. Be an ambassador for MVNHC, disseminating information with the community.
- Organize and facilitate the Fundraising Committe of the Board, including agenda setting, reporting on updates, and engaging committee members on strategies.
- Collaborate and establish good working relationships with Health Center staff.
- Recruit, develop, manage, and coach a team of fundraising professionals.
- Work with clinicians to identify programs that are appropriate for specific funding opportunities.
- Create grant proposals, including narrative, budget, and needs assessments.
- Create progress reports as required by funding agencies.
- Generate at least twice the annual salary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Proven experience in fundraising and/or related fields, with several years of management experience with projects and teams in a non-profit organization or similar environment.
- Knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising, estate planning, and corporate fundraising.
- Motivated and able to solve complex problems and have a passion for philanthropy.
- External orientation - willing to be "out there" and build external relationships.
- Positive attitude, concern for people and community, self-confidence.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- B.A. or B.S. or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing a team of professionals.
Skills:
Must have strong writing and organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. Expert written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, interpret, and summarize complex documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media platforms.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 per year
