POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Director of Programs is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the organizations programs throughout Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. Designs, implements, and oversees all programs that inspire Club members with BGCAs Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development and Principles of Program Planning and Delivery. The Director of Programs provides programmatic oversight that includes ensuring that programs are run consistently at each branch, developing outcome measurements that can be used in grant and contract activities, developing new and innovative programs that represent the communities we serve. The Director of Programs must work collaboratively with peers and Branch Directors in achieving significant program results. They must also work collaboratively with the Program Committee of the Board and serve as their staff liaison. The Director of Programs will also work very closely with Development on grant reporting and attending branch tours of current and prospective donors. The Director of Programs will be involved in fiscal planning for programming, budgeting, and management of such programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership:
- Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.
- Work collaboratively with department staff to support fundraising, media and communication efforts that further support program goals.
- Participates in writing program budgets for special projects and grants.
- Manages and tracks data to measure and report program successes and outcomes to management, community supporters and other stakeholders.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
- Participates in setting strategic planning for programs and accomplishing current strategic goals.
- Modifies and adjust programs as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
- Stays current with new research and trends to ensure up to date programming and develop new programs as needed.
- Implements and ensures adherence to BGCSs policies and procedures.
- Provides sound judgement and decision-making. Acts quickly in emergency situations.
- Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
- Provides staff with proper guidance, training, and support to reach successful outcomes.
- Facilitate and create program guides as necessary for staff.
Curriculum & Program Support:
- Identifies and utilizes best practices for conducting programming.
- Identifies and applies educational and technology-related research and instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education.
- Identifies specific age-appropriate objectives and collaborates with K-12 teachers to increase design, innovation, and state of the art programming.
- Develops criteria to demonstrate student impact and learning success.
Community Outreach:
- Facilitates connections with other educational communities and external organizations to promote program participation and provide collaborative opportunities.
- Works with Club staff to create and disseminate information to various stakeholders about student projects and progress.
- Collaborates with community organizations, colleges, and universities to provide and/or expand co-curricular programming which supports student success.
Additional Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience or program development and implementation experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with current best practices in K-12 education.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience coaching staff teachers and/or leading professional development programs.
- Knowledge of online educational websites, resources, platforms, and apps pertinent to the teaching K-12.
- Knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment-driven instruction.
- Experience writing and designing curriculum.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
- Strong Google Apps for Education skills.
- Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.
- Leadership ability in the use, adaptation, and introduction of a wide array of technology to support and deepen student learning and instruction.
- Flawless ethics and integrity.
- Safety oriented mindset.
Recommended:
- Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university.
- Direct youth programming experience.
- Experience working in a non-profit setting.
