Job Description

Central Penn College seeks an experienced Human Resources Director based at our Summerdale campus.

 

Reporting to the Vice President of People & Culture, the HR Director works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and managers in these priority areas: recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, training and development, performance management, policy interpretation, and compliance.

 

The Human Resources Director partners with managers to provide support and advice, guiding them on staffing needs and staff development, policy interpretation and employee relations matters. The position supports faculty and staff recruitment including development of recruiting strategy, screening and interviewing, background and reference checking, offer negotiation, and on-boarding. The position provides support and guidance to management and staff relating to employee relations issues, conducts investigations when necessary, and performs exit interviews. Other responsibilities include benefits administration, compensation and salary analysis, HRIS support and processing, and other related HR functions. In addition, this position participates in committee work and ad hoc work groups in support of the College’s strategic plan. The HR Director is a visible and active participant in campus activities and supports a positive employee culture.

Requirements

Necessary qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related area; a minimum of 5 – 7 years of human resources experience with broad knowledge of human resources functional areas as gained through HR generalist experience, with emphasis on recruitment, employee relations, and benefits; working knowledge of current federal and state employment laws and regulations; and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and HR systems. Additionally, this position requires strong verbal and written communication, and listening skills. Organizational skills, responsive nature, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, small team environment are essential. Master’s degree and/or SHRM/HRCI certification preferred.
