Description

 

Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire part-time faculty available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. Should a review of your application resulting the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone or email for an interview. Candidates would support beginning and intermediate German classes at the Oregon City campus of Clackamas Community College.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evening and/or weekends.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Instructs students in a classroom. Provides student contact before and after class by telephone, videoconferencing, scheduled meetings or email exchanges during office hours where facilities and schedules permit.

  • Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, supplementary materials,

  • instructional media and other devices as consistent with course outlines and within guidelines set by the primary instructor; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate to instructional activities.

  • Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall student learning outcomes; prepares clear objectives for students to meet these outcomes.

  • Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.

  • Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.

  • Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the college, departments or divisions.
    Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.

  • Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students;

  • If assignment includes the end of a term, enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for incompletes within established college timelines and guidelines.

  • Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.

  • May direct tutors as assigned.

  • Understands and uses the college’s computer system.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in German, or if a native speaker, Master's degree in a related teaching field.
  • The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including the use of step stools in order to retrieve archived materials. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis such as papers, files, boxes, equipment, computers, etc., and rarely requires moving materials weighing over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general direction of the Department Chair.

  • Employees must maintain Metro Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA residency as a condition of employment.
