Position Overview

Rider University invites applications for University Investigators.  The University Investigators serve as part of a team that investigates complaints of harassment and discrimination, including sexual harassment and assault, pursuant to Rider’s Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy, as well as complaints involving the Student Code of Social Conduct and employee policies. The position supports the University in providing a workplace and educational environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by conducting thorough, reliable, and impartial investigations and timely resolution of formal complaints. Other assignments as required.

This position is a hybrid position (largely remote with some in-person responsibilities) and is paid per diem.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience conducting formal complaint investigations, preferably involving issues of alleged sexual conduct, student code of conduct, and employee conduct matters.
  • Formal training directly related to Title IX, Title VI, student / employee conduct or human resources investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze and apply legal and internal policy standards to specific situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with diplomacy, impartiality, and excellent judgment.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, interviewing, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to communicate orally and in written communications, including the ability to convey relevant information in clearly written, detailed reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from underrepresented groups with understanding and sensitivity to experiences of individuals  from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and/or stressful situations in a professional, confidential, and trauma-informed manner.
  • Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office, Google applications and student conduct databases is essential.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education is preferred.
