Atmospheric Propagation Engineer

The Opportunity:

We're looking for a System Administrator with a background in Windows system administration to help us maintain Department of Defense (DoD) systems.

As an Atmospheric Propagation Engineer on our team, you'll be responsible for providing inputs and technical recommendations to the client, sponsor, and integrated project team. You will also assist field techs with troubleshooting and resolving trouble tickets from system users. You'll work with field techs and sponsors to implement system improvements and optimizations to increase performance and reliability. You'll help clients overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management. Your knowledge will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical network. Your communication skills will come in handy as you turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with Python development
  • 2+ years of experience applying analytical skills to support process improvement, studies, and analysis projects
  • 1+ years of experience with weather data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Principles
  • Ability to collect and transport data from weather sensors to its final destination, whether that be a data base or transformed in usable data analysis figures
  • Ability to create solutions for collecting data in remote locations
  • Ability to identify and assign tasks and milestones for self and others
  • Ability to travel to remote locations for sensor installation up to 20% of the time
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degreein EE, Physics, ME, or CS or a scientific or technological field

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience developing solutions and modifying procedures to solve complex problems considering system and software capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of preferred results, including analysis of user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system specifications
  • 1+ years of experience with CR6 DataLoggers and Loggernet Software
  • 1+ years of experience with Turbulence or Aerosol Models, including NavSlam and anam
  • 1+ years of experience with weather sensors, including Scintillometer, Ceilometer, Radiometer, or Transmissometer
  • Knowledge of weather concepts, including Turbulence, Absorption, Reflection, and Scattering

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,300.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
