WIC Clinic Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a WIC Clinic Manager who will oversee the day-to-day activities of the WIC program at multiple sites. The JH WIC program currently has eight WIC services sites and nine outreach locations. This position will directly supervise multiple site supervisors. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to,
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day administrative activities of the program such as reassigning staff as needed, changes to the schedule, conduct and monitor clinic flow, developing monthly staff schedule.
- Resolves scheduling conflicts and maintains clinic client flow; prepares and maintains clinic statistics and manual records of client data; generate reports; develop and implement reports to track missed appointments.
- In conjunction with the WIC program manager, monitors the enrollment of a client base within the community and oversees efforts geared to improve WIC client retention.
- Assists WIC program manager with various administrative functions such as the development of policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with Federal and State policies (i.e. equipment, HIPPA).
- Works as a liaison between State WIC, Vendors, Local Agencies, Community Partners and Staff and attends various meetings and serves on committees representing JH WIC.
- Provides technical support for equipment provided by state. Serves as Liaison to State of MD I.T. helpdesk manager.
- Serves as a backup for the WIC Program Manager.
Supervision
- Directly supervises site coordinators, service associates and office assistant.
- Perform supervisory functions to include interviewing, selecting and evaluations.
- Ensures proper orientation and training of new hires and conducts individualized training with staff that may need additional assistance.
- Ensures JHU policies and procedures are promulgated, and staff are in compliance. Works with BSPH department administrator and HR office when necessary.
- Performs routine audit of staff’s data entry for accuracy and to ensure that the required performance standards are met. Designs corrective action plans when necessary.
Client Interaction
- Will visit locations to interview clients and potential clients to determine eligibility for the WIC Program.
- Conducts client interviews to obtain socio-economic, health, and dietary information; perform and record height, weight, and hemoglobin measurements; screen for the health and nutritional status of clients and identify problems that place them at nutritional risk
- Provides basic health and nutrition information to clients through individual group sessions; provide breastfeeding counseling and support, basic nutrition and preventive health education to WIC clients.
- Refers clients to other health, food assistance, social services programs; provide WIC manual checks to certified clients; researches and discusses problems with appropriate personnel and takes suitable measures to resolve issues.
- Will manage caseload files of clients in need of special assistance; represents the WIC Program at designated health fairs and workshops.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Three years related experience.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Requires an understanding of changing reimbursement policies and third-party reimbursement.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of maternal/preschool nutrition; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Able to work with diverse and low-income populations. Must be flexible and willing to travel to various locations.
- Demonstrate basic ability to use computer system; excellent time management, communication and organizational skills; able to work with diverse populations; basic knowledge of maternal/pre-school.

Starting Salary Range: $47,288 - $82,875 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
