Software QA Tester

Job Description

The Software Quality Assurance Tester is responsible for assessing software quality through manual and automated testing. Acts as the gatekeeper to ensure there are no bugs in the software and it is ready for production use.

Schedule: M-F, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Location: 8515 Miralani Dr, San Diego, CA 92126

The day-to-day:

  • Reviews and analyzes user stories and determines testing requirements.
  • Develops and documents application test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications.
  • Coordinates with team members to ensure testing environments meet key performance and usability requirements.
  • Creates and executes manual and automated test scripts.
  • Accurately records and clearly documents all actual and expected results.
  • Communicates with developers, product managers, project managers and other technical specialists on product issues such as bugs and errors.
  • Provides support to technical teams on troubleshooting software issues.
  • Devises improvements to current procedures.
  • Creates daily test metrics and reporting.
  • Performs post release testing.
  • Performs positive and negative testing of features.
  • Performs black-box testing when necessary.\
  • Performs verification activities on work products using defined methods, procedures, and criteria.
  • Adheres to work instructions as needed.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and establishes open communication with supervisor and manager.
  • Ensures that all company safety rules are followed.
  • Makes recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

What does it take to be successful:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related combination of experience and education required.
  • Three plus years of experience as a Quality Assurance Tester or in a similar role.
  • Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) experience preferred.
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience preferred.
  • Understanding of business processes and ERP.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment with continuous deployments preferred.
  • Experience working with and writing SQL queries.
  • Delivery and solution focused attitude with client's best interest always in mind.
  • Proven ability to manage projects to completion.
  • The ability to work with business and system owners to obtain and document requirements.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
