Academic Peer Assistant, Student Worker

Position Description/Requirements

Lincoln Land Community College is currently accepting applications for a Academic Peer Assistant to provide assistance to designated student with assigned classroom activities.

Student Workers will perform the following duties:

  • Complete the Academic Peer Assistant Training before meeting with the student
  • Meet with the student to ensure a good match
  • Attend each class with the student
  • Meet with the Accessibility Coordinator on a regular basis for the purpose of brainstorming solutions to existing challenges
  • Assist student in staying on task, getting assignments down, and keeping the student focused on the class
  • Check student comprehension of assignments before leaving class and correct when necessary
  • Meet with instructor when necessary for clarifications of course content or assignments
  • Complete and submit timesheets in accordance with college established due dates


All LLCC Student Workers have the following institutional responsibilities:
  • Uphold LLCC’s mission, as well as certain standards of conduct within the College and in dealings with students, staff, faculty and the general public.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other regulations with regard to confidentiality of and access to student and other institutional records.


Student Workers will be paid minimum wage. Students are able to work up to 20 hours a week. 

Requirements include the following:
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) during the semester of employment, with the exception of summer term
  • Complete LLCC’s mandatory harassment prevention training within 30 days of employment
  • Minimum GPA 2.0

If working with minors, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
