General Information:
The International Accounting Office at James Madison University is seeking a Fiscal Specialist. This position supports the university's international defining characteristic for enhancing global competencies of the student. The successful candidate will serve on a team of International Program Accountants that provide fiscal program support to the Center for Global Engagement and faculty directors for activities occurring abroad.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide accounting and financial support to the Center for Global Engagement, as well as, other offices throughout the university. This includes financial analysis of all aspects of Semester Abroad and Short-Term international programs.
- Review program budgets and foreign and stateside expenditures
- Initiate international wire transfers and monitor the exchange rates on a daily basis.
- Work as a team with IA to distribute prepaid cards to student participants of Short-Term programs.
- Assist with creating and providing financial training to Program Directors. Present financial procedures, review current practices and update as needed to comply with overall University policies.
- Prepare and submit financial statements for inclusion in the University's financial report.
Qualifications:
Required: - Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial populations.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Must be able to multi-task: prioritize projects and deadlines.
- Ability to audit and reconcile financial reports.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and business processes.
- Ability to work independently with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
